Fallen Tree

After last night’s storm

soft morning light caresses

the new-fallen tree.

~

A wee bird perches

on the fallen tree, fluffs its

feathers – mighty me!

Supported And Transported

Without denying our faults,

friends can transport us

to a place beyond judgement

as they did today when they suggested

that what they’d likely see

upon entering a certain fast food place

where I’d let folks know

exactly what I thought of their non-service

was my photograph

on a large UNWANTED poster.

Teen M.D.

My adolescent

granddaughter teensplains the whys

and wherefores of her

homeworkitis as I point

out the course such sickness takes.

Aglow

When golden days such

as these dance into our lives,

we must follow their

lead and let the sun’s warm glow

guide our steps as we dance too.

Universal Reminder

The Universe must have had enough

of me and my worrisome moods.

Grabbing a pen to jot down

my daily poem, I found one already there.

Short and to the point, it read:

Big Trip

Short Fuse

Deep Breath

Just Cruise.

When I wrote it, I don’t know,

but what I do know is this –

the Universe is a poet too,

and just to make this crystal  clear,

showed me a license plate that read

LUVJG24.

Worry Walk

When worry begins

its circular walk and starts

to run its well-grooved

course, I’ll invite it

to come and sit a spell, to

pause and catch a breath.

From this vantage point we’ll look

and maybe choose a different path.

The Quality of Light

On overcast days we can see just fine.

It is not a

matter of

seeing

or

not

seeing.

Rather, it’s

how heart and mind

respond to certain qualities of light.

Guiding Gaba

After listening to my counsel,

my granddaughter looked up

and said, “Ah yes, more great advice

from ‘Gaba’s Guide to the Galaxy'”.

Earth Song

Not even a cloud

lingers in the empty sky –

a monotone of

endless gray. A cherry tree,

rooted firmly in

the earth, lifts its branches high,

singing a pink hymn of praise.
