Blue Jay stands, head cocked,
among a scattering of
white cherry blossoms.
Looking puzzled, he seems to
ask, “Did I miss the wedding?”.

When now becomes then,
may we celebrate our light
and learn from our dark.

When self-created drama
takes mind’s center stage,
let‘s hope
self-awareness is waiting in the wings
and heeds a prompt
to play its part

When reality
gives me a not-so-gentle
tap, I’m called to set
aside my phone with all its
apps, shift my gaze to
all that’s real and struggle to
apply myself to just that.

or
long?
A good
question, but
if I don’t pause,
once that old amygdala’s sprung, I’m done.
