An unanticipated delay can

time to pause,

I wonder – was it
wisdom or woe that turned that
tall tree prematurely gold?

present now and has been set before me.

why that praying mantis
came right then,
perched himself on my side-view mirror
and looked at me with
what I swear was a great big grin.

The peace of early
morning – may its soft current
flow throughout the day.
