State of Being

Transition is the only constant.

Chaucer was right:

“Tide  and time wait for no man,”

or woman or anything else.

While we’re alive,

if we have a

choice,

it only lies

in our attitude.

Moment by moment

how do we choose to go

with time’s ceaseless flow?

Findings

Some things can’t be found

by looking. They like to sneak

up on us,  and when

we’re least aware, startle us

into puddles of pure joy.

Speed Learning

When his job was done

 calling forth the sun,

that wry rooster moved roadside

to manage traffic flow.

It didn’t take him long to learn

the sun was easier to control.

And All The While

Worry clogs my mind

as fear tightly grips my heart

and all the while

a field of golden flowers

dances just outside my door.

Formative Conditions

An acorn must break open

to form a tree.

What must I do

to form a we?

Silent Offering

In the surrounding

woods, not a single leaf stirs.

Are the trees, like us,

offering silent thanks for

the big wind that didn’t come?

Jarred

How did Merullo

see inside my head? Hornets

in a jar, he said.

That swarm seldom seems to rest.

It’s time I removed the lid.

In The Stillness

The trees are so still

now. They must be directing

their energies down

deep, toward their roots, preparing

for the big winds yet to come.
