I worked out a way
to work

On a busy day
I worked out a way
to work
out.
JDG
Standing in Nature’s
church beneath a vault of trees,
I offer up a
silent prayer of gratitude
in the midst of holy green.
JDG
I walked with greater ease today.
Hmm…
this practice stuff,
though sometimes tough,
seems to be working well enough.
JDG
I wanted to walk with him,
but addicted as I am to running
and doing many things at once,
I found myself shifting in my seat,
searching for action or meaning or
laughter or something more than what I got.
In time, though, I settled down and settled in
and discovered the simple joy of this gentle stroll.
JDG
It helps to recall
other beginnings when I
kept going even
though the pull to stop was strong.
Today I’ll hold on to that.
JDG
I watch as my words
splinter and fall silently
on the waiting earth.
Perhaps they will find meaning
in earth’s receptive presence.
JDG
Going boldly where
I haven’t gone before – well,
not boldly, but still going.
JDG
Search but don’t destroy.
Treasure the found moment instead.
It won’t be long before it’s gone.
JDG
Could it possibly
be I’ve finally hit my
groove? It seems that way today.
JDG
Sweet afternoon nap –
the perfect dessert after
a full-course morning.
