Today I do not want to exercise
or do anything else I know needs doing.
My two-year old self is screaming, “No”.
I sit quietly with her as she has her full say.
Finally she looks up and hesitantly says,”Yes?”
and so, together, we begin.

From one moment to
the next, the world will change in
ways sometimes large and
sometimes small. What is certain
is the constancy of change.

Yesterday I let
exercise go, but today
I’m back on track. In
a brief span of time, I had
a loss and a victory.

New light glistens on
ancient tree infusing it
with fresh mystery.

Complexity in morning light – dark clouds
white clouds, sunshine
and shade, clear
views and
haze.
Earth
holds each
particle

spacious embrace there’s room enough for all.

Didn’t want to strive
or fuss but just to smile,
breathe and exercise.

To build large we must start small and persist
tiny bit by
tiny bit
’til we’re
done.
It
also
helps if we
remember to
keep hearts’ doors ajar for joy to enter.

An ordinary workout
on an ordinary day –
both special in their own way.

Morning light dancing
beneath sun-struck trees
on a day not warm
and not yet cold – the promise
of autumn is in the air.

A tiny add-on
today to strengthen muscles
in my legs, but it’s
ok – or at least not bad,
as such exercise plans go.
