Day one hundred ten –
developing a yen for
daily exercise.

I found something I
didn’t know I was looking
for, though it would be
more accurate to say it
found me. It took me
to an unknown land and left
me there. I must find my way.
JDG
To my amazement
I don’t pine for those former
exercise-free days of mine.

The smell of wood smoke
on a cold November day
satisfies the soul.

Even though she was the only waitress
in a quickly filling room,
she moved among us
calm and unhurried,
took careful note of each request,
and with a quiet happiness,
brought each of us our choice.
I left the restaurant
as much nourished by her presence
as by my meal.

before it’s too late.
JDG

and sprinkle her
with fairy
dust. I
don’t
know
why, but
that makes things
worse. I guess I’ll
try offering her these French fries instead.
JDG
Exercise helps me
loosen the tight grip of bad
moods and tones flabby muscles.

Sometimes an answer
comes before a request is
even made – like when
I didn’t know where to turn
and suddenly you were there.
