Day 134 – Warming Up

Snow-bound in Virginia,

I warm up, not by

shoveling my way out,

but by exercising and staying in.

January Promise

Clouded sun, peeking

through frosted branches – promise

of cold, shining light.

Day 133 – Restart

When I miss a day

as I did just yesterday,

I begin anew today

and continue on from here.

Harbingers Of Light

By day a sun-lit

sky – by night a supermoon.

The new year begins.

Day 132 – Renewal

Nothing new here except

the year and the me who is

becoming more fit day by day.

A Turn Beyond

I’m avoiding the void in me. I keep

I can’t

just

let

myself

be without

form and void. I’ll

turn to Spirit, let it enter and rest.

Year of Depth

LuAnne Holder’s post inspired me. I’m going to try to make this a “year of deepening”. I’ll begin by reading and rereading books I already have and not purchasing new ones. This will be my biggest challenge.

closet

but with sparkles

There it was crumpled
in the back of the closet
an old black velvet dress
inherited from my mother
and a gauzy black cape
speckled with glittering threads
bought years ago when my girls were teens

I’ll be dressed tonight in the depth
of a year of seeing the old, the wrinkled,
the forgotten, the out-of-style
with new eyes for new potential
to start fresh with what’s
already here now

I challenged myself in 2017 to only buy the necessary, like socks or a replacement water heater. It was an interesting experiment.  I didn’t spend time looking at ads or stressed about deciding which…

Rules Of The Road

On the road ahead,

a small flash of red. Doesn’t

that wee cardinal know

though roads are meant for moving fast,

they’re not meant for dine and dash?
