Even in the rain
the squirrels came,
ever hopeful
the birdseed would be there.
Joined by cardinals and jays,
they gobbled away
and saved none
for the next rainy day.

In a strange way, when
there is less to fill our time,
the days grow more full.

We can be as vibrant as Spring trees if
we join Nature’s
chorus and
learn to
sing.

(with thanks to LuAnne Holder for introducing
me to alphabiku, a form of haiku)

grows more clear, I feel my mood
begin to lighten
and send messages to my
feet to run and greet the sun.

Another gray start
of day. Find myself wishing
it wasn’t this way.
Notice the bright song of birds.
Decide to join them with words.

With folded hands pressed against my chest, I
offer myself
comfort right
here, right

I
breathe in
love, hold it
close, accepting
myself, offering kind understanding.

Wishing I could move
through life
with the grace
of birds
flying among
swaying branches
of leafy trees.

Blackberry bushes,
magnolia trees, and daisies –
Spring chorus in white.
