Therapeutic Daze

Grinning broadly, she told her therapist,

“I have given the matter much thought

and decided it would be better for me

if I participated less in life and watched more t.v.”

The therapist nodded her therapist head, paused

and said with an answering grin, “hmm.”

Weathering

Just like the weather,

moods come and go. Yesterday

the clouds began to

gather; today it’s likely

to rain; tomorrow

sunny days may come again.

Though nothing’s certain,

it helps to know it takes both

sun and rain to make things grow.

Morning Hope

Into the quiet

morning we pour our noisy

ways, hoping for a

gradual distillation

from too much to just enough.

A World of Bridges

 Summer breeze catches

sun-lit strands – a spider’s walk

stretched between two trees.

Beauty, form, and function blend –

  Nature’s soaring Golden Gate.

The Doctor Is In

“Gaba,” she said, ” You’re just a young soul in

an old body.”

Oh to be

sixteen

once

more,

able

to discern

and diagnose

the soul condition of those older folk.

Walking Shoes

No one walks in another’s shoes

and even if we could,

it would be us, not them,

who put one foot and then another

on the path that lies ahead.

When  a path takes a sharp turn

or comes to a sudden end,

not one of us knows what we’d do

even wearing our own shoes.

Who’s Confused?

Did that firefly

get his days and nights mixed up

or is it only

me who’s confused, who doesn’t

understand his daytime ways?

Morning Haze

Morning haze softens

sharp edges, blurs distinctions,

slows our hurried pace,

gives us time to remember

one who lit the world

with laughter and compassion

while walking through the dark.

The Picnic of Aging

Who says aging is

no picnic? It seems like we’re

always picking one

thing or another, be it

doctors, eye glasses,

lawyers or hearing aids to

help us with the nicks

aging brings. Still, they are right –

we don’t get to pick the nicks.

Belly Laughs

Cresting waves laugh uproariously as

they near the shore.

It seems they

can’t

hold

it

in.

The jokes

those seagulls

whispered when they

hovered close must have made sea’s belly shake.
