It’s December and the kids
are calculating the likelihood of snow.
With the temperature still in the fifties,
the likelihood is low. Still, they keep chanting,
“let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!”

Celebrating clever chaps, cherished ’cause
they cut through crap
with crazy
comic
charm.
JDG
They took me aside, those two,
and whispered words of encouragement.
” We heard they have a two-for-one special
running down at VCU.
Not only can you have your knee replaced,
but you can also get a personality redo.
Please don’t pass this up,
dear Gaba, we beg of you.”

Like dry leaves blown by
a restless wind, old thoughts toss
in weary heads.

How quickly days change –
grey to gold to grey, then back
again. Neither gold
nor grey can stay, no matter
what those lazy pundits say.

But battling boredom beats being brought
down by bouts of
bothersome
blasé
blues.
JDG
Strangely she yelled for
peace, shattering the morning’s
soft cacophony.
JDG
Angry adolescents of any age
adamantly
argue that
they are
right
and
you are
wrong although
any adult
will assess their argument as addled.

When I’m in the dark,
I write and, if I’m lucky,
what appears is light.
