The Way Of Things

There’s nothing tidy about our world

though we might wish there were.

Just when things seem

sorted out and in their place,

there’s a shift, sudden or otherwise,

and we begin

once more

to impose order on a disordered world.

It’s not fruitless; it’s just the way of us and things.

What’s fruitless is our demand it not be so.

Doors And Windows

I remember how

as children we liked to play

with boxes, cutting

doors and windows to make homes.

When feeling boxed in,

we could reclaim that art and

start working on openings.

Naturally

What are we seeing

when nature runs hot and cold –

our own bad karma?

Looking In, Reaching Out

We’ve seen reflections

of the best in us and the

worst in us on the

national news. Together

may we help the best to thrive.

Winter Wonderland

Winter wonderland

leaves parents wondering how

long before kids go

back to school and kids wondering

how to get the snow to stay.

A Matter Of Time

That jay was so busy chasing others

away he did

not find time

to eat.

Some

might

see a

lesson here

unless they are

so busy they can’t find the time to look.

Winter Watch

Airborne colors mixed

with snow’s flurry of white.

One with red wings perched

and peered inside, curious

about those nesting within.

Saturday Sabbath

Snow laden branches,

tossed by the wind, shower white

blessings as birds sing.

Evening Whisperings

The slow sift of snow –

the season’s first – softly spreads

rumors of winter.

Sound Advice

Well-rehearsed words spoken from a place of

resentment or

anger don’t

help us

meet.

What

if we

rehearsed our

mood instead ’til

compassion comes and we can speak from peace?
