It doesn’t take much,
just a splash of sun, and our

Infinite impermanence –
Where it all begins
and ends is here, right now;
all else is memory
or imagination.

Inexplicable love that includes and
transcends – always
present, but
seldom
seen.

Finding what fits
in clothes and roles –
trying first this
and then that until
the right mix of comfort
and pizzazz is found.

Searching for reasons
to be unreasonable
these shadow-filled days.

Caught in the draft of
cars speeding past, tall grass shakes
as its roots hold firm.

Hurricane Season
within and without – winter
never looked so good.
Before, beyond, between words lies silence –
the sound poets
listen for
and write
from.

When we got home,
you were there to greet us,
sweet mourning dove.
Cooing softly,
you didn’t take flight
but lingered close by
on the ground.
~
Worried you might
be injured, we slowly
approached, but you
flew to a near-by tree
and cooed, as if to say,
“Thanks, but no thanks.
I’ve got this and so do you.”
And, indeed, we do.

of my own making, I learn
I have the key.
The big question is… will I
use what I’ve learned and thus walk free?
