Even after I mustered
all my arguments,
leaped through mental hoops,
and turned logical cartwheels,
my better self remained unconvinced.

but bask in beingness.

takes his job seriously,

is for rain, but let’s enjoy
the sunshine that is today.

Sunday slow-downs bring
a much needed reprieve from
the usual week-day speed wreck.
We have a chance for a restful break
before getting back on those busy roads.

Little dots of light
flash across the darkened lawn.
Memories flash too –
kids racing to capture bits
of nighttime magic in jars.

Our planet supports
all manner of living things:
elephants and ants,
minnows and whales. It’s only
we who reject diversity.

Negativity,
that kudzu of the soul, grows
imperceptibly
until it obscures all that
was once hopeful and alive.

No deep thoughts tonight.
Just a relaxed enjoyment
of the visiting creatures
out for an evening stroll –
people, dogs, squirrels, and deer.
