his wife. Female cardinal nudged
her still oblivious mate.

Love this, Joan! I’ve been entertained by a chipping sparrow couple who are working on a nest just to the left of my writing window. This morning the female was perched on a tree with a down feather in her mouth. She lost control of it and gracefully caught it mid-flight on her way to the nest. What a blessing to have free entertainment outside the window where I spend so much of my morning. You are very observant to pick up on these bird interactions. 🙂
