The apple doesn’t
fall far from the tree. After
being told by school
officials that she must wear
a skirt or dress on
days her basketball team played,
my almost six-foot,
pants-loving granddaughter did
exactly what she
was told and paired her long skirt
with matching basketball shoes.

How fun! I had never heard of a naga-uta before. I love haiku and the freedom (oddly enough) that writing within a form promotes. I am so glad I stumbled upon your site. (I looked under tags for “poetry:) I will be back.

Thank you LuAnne. I too enjoy “the freedom that writing within a form promotes” as you expressed so succinctly and so well.
