Home

Our bodies know before our minds

when we’ve come home.

For some, home is

the high drama

of the mountains, or the solid

sameness of the plains.

For others it’s

the ever-shifting

mood of shore and sea.   For me it’s

the gentleness

of these rolling

Piedmont  hills.

Some might call “Home” poetry — I call it painting with words. Nice.

Joan, I really like the way you have combined inner and outer geography. Having had at least some experience of all these places, I also find comfort in the gentle rolling hills. Which doesn’t preclude visits to the other places. Thank you, Dabney
