After a Heavy Rain

Even after a heavy rain,

last year’s leaves, now

brown, hold fast to

what was home. Some

have scattered, though, across soggy

ground, joining pine

needles and moss

in shades of brown

and washed-out green. And in the trees,

hanging upside

down, a red-headed

woodpecker swings

  1. Lovely – I could see the view and almost smell the scent of damp earth and pine needles. Thanks for sharing this with us! Kathleen

Ha! Once again, you have that verbal paint brush in your hand! (Did you see my comment about ‘Home’?)

I did, Shell, and I appreciate your image of a verbal paint brush, especially since I have so little facility with an actual paint brush. Warmly, Joan
