They weren’t of my own
making, those water diamonds
shimmering on my
windshield in the morning sun,
but they made me look
at what lies ahead and ask
that I make some diamonds too.

After getting all
wound up about winding down,
I decided on
another course – I’d unwind
instead with a bit of wine.

February threw all kinds of fits, but
has chosen to
leave with a

I prepared a banquet for those birds last night
but not one stopped by

I never ran with the wolves,
but once I danced in a swirling skirt
beneath a partial moon.
I never danced out far.
I never danced in deep,
but when was that ever a bar

a large Fictionary,
a compilation of stories
built from a word, a glance. a body stance.
a tone, an eyebrow shift, a muscle twitch.
It’s been suggested I consult
instead a Nonfictionary where
only the barest of facts are stored.
Naturally, I declined since it’s obvious
the suggestion-maker has no imagination.

catch the winter rain.

Sometimes though, heart opens first
before mind has a clue.
