What Lies Ahead

They weren’t of my own

making, those water diamonds

shimmering on my

windshield in the morning sun,

but they made me look

at what lies ahead and ask

that I make some diamonds too.

Winding My Way To Equanimity

After getting all

wound up about winding down,

I decided on

another course – I’d unwind

instead with a bit of wine.

That February

February threw all kinds of fits, but

has chosen to

leave with a

sun-lit

face.

Food For Thought

I prepared a banquet for those birds last night

but not one stopped by

or sent regrets.

It wasn’t til later the following day

that those hard-partying birds

showed up to dine

only to find their Saturday banquet

(now Sunday brunch)

was not divine…or so they opined.

Keepsake

I never swam with the dolphins.

I never ran with the wolves,

but once I danced in a swirling skirt

beneath a partial moon.

I never danced out far.

I never danced in deep,

but when was that ever a bar

to any dance we keep?

All Aflutter

Beneath grey streaked skies,

bare hills lie fluttering with

the stir of white wings.

For Easy Access

The shelf of my mind holds

 a large Fictionary,

a compilation of stories

built from a word, a glance. a body stance.

a tone, an eyebrow shift, a muscle twitch.

It’s been suggested I consult

instead a Nonfictionary where

only the barest of facts are stored.

Naturally, I declined since it’s obvious

the suggestion-maker has no imagination.

Morning Show

Wild blue heron

catch the winter rain.

Understanding Comes

Understanding comes

when mind’s door opens and swings

heart’s door open too.

Sometimes though, heart opens first

before mind has a clue.
