Foreseeing a busy day,
I did my exercises first
and surprised even me.

The hills are brown now –
a reminder that every
season can’t be green,
but if we take the time to
look there’s beauty to be seen.

Still raining, but I’m
not feeling blue ’cause to mine
own self I’ve been true.

A slow emptying –
dogs and cats nod off to sleep
as rain softly falls.

As I exercised
Toby cocked an eye, dogsplained,
“It’s raining. Just rest.”

The upside of down
is something only
optimists pursue.
Pessimists have
their feet planted
firmly underground
as they watch for
the downside of up.

Blessed silence was with me
as I exercised today.
Even my own mind kept
wordy thoughts at bay.
