What if
we spent as much time
humanely solving problems
as we spend
insanely denying them?

Driving past woods bright
with new green, I felt a surge
of newness too. Though
I know it won’t be long til
all this passes, I’m here now.

Sometimes something deep
within us just says no, won’t
let us say or do
what common sense says is best.
If we listen to
this deeper knowing we might
find our way
to an uncommon yes.

All along the road,
redbuds reach out, extending
purple blessings to
all us unrooted ones as
we hurry on our way.

A fallen tree
lies in the pond,
but tucked among
its supine branches
baby ducks soon nestle.
Life goes on.
JDG
As the pond reflects
a calm abiding, redbud.
forsythia, and
cherry invite us to join
them in a lively spring dance.
JDG
They paused in mid-air,
those two birds, and seemed to kiss
before each moved on.
JDG
Itching to solve this problem or that, I
scratch around for
answers. When
none come,
I
scratch
some more
until what
results is a
self-inflicted open wound that festers.
JDG
I surprise myself
sometimes when I’m swept with an
inexplicable
wave of tenderness toward that
curmudgeon that lives within.
JDG
Couldn’t see clearly in the morning mist.
Forced to slow down.
I began
to see
what
I
hadn’t
seen before –
unexpected
benefit of a clouded point of view.
