A State Of Unwrest

Today I rested while doing –

not hurried, not worried,

not checking things off a very long list –

just an easy flow

from one task to the next.

What’s Their Secret?

Those mourning doves dine

unperturbed by warring jays

and feisty squirrels.

Would that I could sit serene

amid life’s fuss and flurry.

Morning Announcement

The earth lay beneath

a misty blanket of fog

but birds and squirrels

were not deterred and let me

know breakfast could still be served.

Listening Skills

Knowing that the storyteller within

weaves all kinds of tales,

we can listen

with interest without

getting caught in the web.

Red, White, And Blue

Against a blue sky

Cardinals sit perched

on a white blossomed tree

bidding farewell to February,

welcoming the approach of Spring.

Que Sera, Sera

Though storms

may be on the horizon,

they’re not here now.

Let’s relish this moment

and hold space for the next.

Sky Talk

The sun, it seemed,

gave me a wink.

“Don’t let this day’s cold

get you down.

It’s winter’s last hurrah.”
