truth. That old man and I are still walking.

who or what might appear,

those two mourning doves
have eaten side by side
and just yesterday
they nuzzled against each other.
They’re taking it slow, but each day
they grow closer to one another.
Would that we humans were as patient
and as wise.

last year’s fallen leaves –
tiny blue promises
of this year’s
budding life.
