Judging from the way
all the bird seed disappeared,
I’d say both the birds
and those hungry squirrels found
it good to the last kernel.

Nothing is certain.
Tomorrow may not come, but
we are here today.
Don’t wait to sing your own song.
Sing it with passion today.

Round and round I go,
spinning the same old story.
It’s time for me to
take a break in hopes I’ll find
some better material.

I never saw it
because I failed to look, but
sight unseen, it inched
closer, stared me in the face,
and screamed, “Wake up, sleepy head!”.

Knox basks in the sun.
but remains on the lookout
for visitors of
all kinds, two legged or four,
who might like to romp or soar..

I rose early to
see the day’s opening act.
For a brief moment
sun and moon shared the stage til
the moon left and joined the stars.

Midway through the day
the sun and the clouds came to
an understanding
and agreed to alternate
their prominence from above.

There are no fixes,
quick or otherwise, for this
broken world of ours,
but we can mend what we can,
and try not to break the rest.

When our minds begin
an internal audit with
a list of all our
flaws and failures, let’s balance
the account with our assets.
