Unfortunately,
Knox never met a creature
he didn’t invite
to romp and play as he did

No sun overhead,
but a tiny yellow bird
sits on the porch rail,
and with a toss of its head,
flings us kernels of delight.

with the universe over
my failure to heed his pleas.

In my rush I can
fail to see the beseeching
eyes of Knox. He then
throws in a few pitiful
moans and, if all else fails, barks.
JDG
We have to learn when

When in doubt, turning

our minds is a better bet.

refused to listen
and all night long they kept on
asking, WHO? WHO? WHO? WHO? WHO?
JDG
I took for granted
the unobstructed flow of

grateful for each cough-free breath
I take and an unclogged nose.
JDG
Though she was only
with us for a day, when her
wings dried, she was soon
off, ready to do the things
luna moths such as she do.
