Border Crossing

No words were needed.

Amidst the tears a look was

exchanged, a smile

was shared, and for a moment

their quite different worlds were joined.

When The Sun Sets

When the sun sets on

this cold winter day, may we

find satisfaction

in the warmth we were able

to bring and the light we shared.

Love Challenge

If I surrender

my need to be right, then I

can better hear you

and the place from which I speak

will have room enough for two.

National Bird Watch

Not that there aren’t eagles

out there, but it helps to know

if what you’re seeing

are soaring common crows or

just bewildered mockingbirds.

Looking In, Reaching Out

We’ve seen reflections

of the best in us and the

national news. Together

may we help the best to thrive.

Winter Wonderland

Winter wonderland

leaves parents wondering how

long before kids go

back to school and kids wondering

how to get the snow to stay.

Winter Watch

Airborne colors mixed

with snow’s flurry of white.

One with red wings perched

and peered inside, curious

about those nesting within.

What We Can Do

What judgement closes

compassion can open, and

even if we can’t

agree, we can acknowledge

each other’s humanity.

A Cardinal Reminder

Just when the world seems

drained of color, a cardinal

reminder stops by

and with a nod of its red

head, asks me to look once more.

A Dog’s Gotta Do What A Dog’s Gotta Do

Seeing he didn’t

want to rally and walk, she

lured him with a treat.

He grabbed it quickly and ran

leaving her with leash in hand.
