Retire?

To her retire

means getting new tires and

continuing on

her habitual road of

doing what she trained to do.

First And Only

My first order of

business this Thanksgiving is

to have no business

other than deep gratitude

for my granddaughters who cook.

All Shook Up

Sometimes we search for

an answer to a question

not yet clearly formed

and then fret and fume because

we get a garbled reply.

More Than Enough

Just as too much light

on rain-soaked roads can make it

 hard to see, too much

thought can divert heart’s  mission

as we walk grief’s sodden path.

Uh-oh

Some trees seem to have

adopted our speedy ways

as they take a sharp

turn on green and pause at red.

Who can know what lies ahead?

The “Then What” Of Climate Change

about getting to the top,

we’re not ready for

climb-it change. What if when we

get to the top, nothing’s there?

Ways And Means

If I feel my fear,

but don’t fight, flee, freeze or fold,

I will discover

resources I didn’t know,

ways that couldn’t be foretold.

All That I Survey

As I survey my

to-do list, I wish I felt

the sparkle I see

in early morning sun-light

dancing on lingering dew.
