Water meets water
as rain falls on the pond

Water meets water
as rain falls on the pond
and it seems they’ve
always been together.

Just to let us know
they’re on their way,
wild geese honk
as they pass by.

Knox looks at the door
with longing as he waits for
sunrise and his walk.
I am hopeful that by then
the rain will have paused or stopped.
JDG
Not stopped by the rain,
a multispecies clean-up crew
has arrived, clearing
the porch of all bird seed.
JDG
The sky begins to lighten
though we can’t yet see the sun.
Still, we know its time will come.
JDG
Preparing for fall,
some trees are adding a touch
of gold to their green wardrobe.
JDG
Dancing in the rain
is to be commended, but
most of us would prefer
a different option.
JDG
Out before sunrise
before most creatures awake,
Knox and I take our
first walk – a quiet start to
an otherwise noisy day.
JDG
After a scuffle,
those two squirrels
called a truce
much to the relief
of all those who
just wanted to eat.
JDG
In a cloudless sky
the sun rises, ravens fly,
as the two of us
saunter along enjoying
the day, each in our own way.
