He looked that blue jay
in the eye, gave one sharp caw
that seemed to say,
” Stop hassling us. Be on your way.”.

Whatever they saw,
it made them spook, those young deer,
and away they ran
in search of a better place
where they might leisurely graze.

Standing by the pond,
a mother deer watches as
her two babies drink.

Farewell To Summer
Kids wave goodbye
as they board the yellow bus.
Kids under six, parents and pets
watch as the bus pulls away
and the long school year begins.

When aliens from outer space
saw how we treat our planet
and each other, they decided
to keep to themselves
and not stop by for a visit.
