the dandelions decide
it’s time to rise and shine.

like many other creatures,
I return home to my nest.

on this small planet, a mere dot
in the universe we call home.

but Knox objected
so they hurriedly moved on
to a more welcoming place.

A bright light begins
to rise over a darkened
horizon marking
the start of a new day.

They’re going out
in a blaze of color
as they add
a touch of fire
to this cool and rainy weather.

we’re living, empty and alone,
in a never-ending void
and only later do we learn
how fertile it was.
