and flood the sky with gold light,
but Knox was more interested

There was seed aplenty,
but so busy was that bird
chasing other birds away,
he had little time to dine.

to the rising sun, goodbye
to descending moon.

A paw reached over
and tapped my leg,
reminding me
a walk would be
good for both of us.
Who knows what
we might find out there?

to say goodbye, still lingers
in the morning sky.

Bed made, dishes done.
Dog, cats, and birds all fed…
a short break before
surveying what’s next in store,
where my footsteps will be led.
