Knox does not waste his
time worrying if there will
be a shortage of
squirrels and sticks. Perhaps I can
learn from all he has to teach.

Seeking shelter from
the storm, I rush past smiling
dandelions. Once inside,
I’ll smile too, but for now
I just whisper thanks
for the reminder.

In
the old days
when I was young,
I climbed whatever tree
I could. Now, I peacefully
recline beneath any welcoming tree
I find.
Walking backwards through time,
I come upon my many mistakes.
I pause and extend my hand
to my error-ridden self.
We turn and walk forward together.

discover her inner lion
and begin to roar. Her gentle
lamb side is much preferred.

like a young bird trapped
in an old crow’s body.

the door. ever ready to
explore. He has no
use for my lazy ways, not
even on these rainy days.
JDG
I issued myself
a restraining order and
reluctantly held
my tongue much to the relief
of many who know me best.
JDG
The temperature leaped
backward and the sun leaped ahead
as I, out of leaps, crawled out of bed
on this leap day morn.
JDG
Rain drops gently fall
from pillows of gray clouds as
the sun stays hidden.
