When we’re self-absorbed,
it’s hard to let others’ pain soak in

Tell me why I was
given a name that brings to

Searching for the sun,
those trees, some on one side of the road,
some on the other, create an archway

could bend enough to join with folks
on the other side and, together, create
a shelter from the heat.

Not a minute to spare.
JDG

earth, those massive sunflowers
and brought us delight.

Through drought and downpour,
good times and bad, they are there –
a refuge for squirrels, birds, and me.
