Strolling leisurely
across the shadow filled lawn
were three baby deer
closely watched by their mothers
who munched on the still damp grass.

Hummingbirds and bees
sip nectar from their favorite
bush, but few blossoms
remain. Soon they’ll move on, but
not without a kiss goodbye.
JDG
That tiny flower,
closed so tight,
slowly opened to the light
showing us it can be done.
JDG
Powerless we sit
in the dark, hoping at last
for a glimpse of light,
but it looks like it won’t come
’til the rising of the sun.
JDG
That adventuring calf
leaves his mother and herd behind,
escapes the fence and hits the road
in search of something undefined.
JDG
When there’s plenty,
why do some have too much
and others too little?
JDG
Outside my window
hummingbirds and bees find their
pleasure as birds dine nearby.
JDG
I’m not a puppet
so I have no strings to pull,
but I’m willing to entertain
a reasonable exchange.
I will shed no tears
for those would be puppeteers.
JDG
Through the morning haze
three small deer slowly stroll by,
but when they spot us,
they dash for the woods before
we even have time to speak.
