Fireflies by night,
hummingbirds by day keep things
moving out my way.

Fireflies by night,
hummingbirds by day keep things
moving out my way.
JDG
I want to learn from
my dog Knox who finds something
to enjoy each day
and doesn’t waste a moment
fretting about all that’s passed.
JDG
The pond silently
awaits the arrival of
the migrating geese.
JDG
The clouds overhead
are still pondering whether
to let their tears fall.
JDG
Opening the door
to the welcoming wags of
Knox’s tail always
makes me smile as I let
his warm greeting embrace me.
JDG
Wee hummingbird comes to the porch rail
to check what the big fuss is about
then hurries away to dine
in more colorful surroundings.
JDG
Out in the open,
running here and there, that vine
proudly reveals its colors.
JDG
Just before sunrise
when all the world is asleep,
an owl suggests we wake up.
JDG
That fawn’s mother taught
her the importance of not
being seen or heard
and she stood still and silent
as Knox and I ambled by.
JDG
It’s a winding road
from birth to death with many
unexpected stops and turns, but
I’m glad I get to make this trip
and don’t have to go alone.
