hopping out much to her dismay.

Reluctant to leave,
the moon lingers as the sun
slowly starts to rise.

They left a part of
themselves behind, those gray birds
whose feathers I found.

The crickets and frogs
serenade the rising moon,
celebrating its fullness.

Time didn’t pass me by.
It etched itself into my skin.
Connoisseurs judge me
by the quality of time’s work.

does it take to change a lightbulb?
It depends on how many of us
seek enlightenment.

Crickets responded
to the moon’s invitation
to join her in song.

He looked that blue jay
in the eye, gave one sharp caw
that seemed to say,
” Stop hassling us. Be on your way.”.

Whatever they saw,
it made them spook, those young deer,
and away they ran
in search of a better place
where they might leisurely graze.

He built walls to shut
people out, but before long
those same walls closed in on him.
