Evening sky,
streaked with pink,
bids the sun goodbye,
greets the moon,
waits for the stars’ passing wink.

One brown leaf remains.
Except for that the tree is bare.
Leaving home, it seems,
can be hard even for
dry and weathered leaves.

Grandkids return home
for Thanksgiving and Knox
