When we first came to this patch of land
that wild cherry greeted us
with white blooms and green leaves.
As the years passed she slowly
bloomed less and less;
her branches held fewer leaves.
Recently several of her branches fell.
This year may be her last.
We treasured her presence through the years.
She will be deeply missed.

Drowning in information
when wisdom would
keep us afloat.

My burdened mind moved
in rhythm with my steady
breath and finally let things go.

Every day the sun rises.
Every day the sun sets.
Sometimes we see it.
Sometimes we don’t.
But it is there,
rising and setting each day –
a constant in an uncertain world.

Little by little
my no-saying inner two year old
is learning to say yes.
It’s only taken 78 years.

Pink streaked morning sky,
golden glow of rising sun,
pungent smell of skunk.

A voice cried out but
no one heard, lost as they were
in their own concerns
Over time the voice grew still
and they wondered what went wrong.

We are just two women
trying to find our way
One old
One young
Together sometimes
Not always
Perfect sometimes
Not always
But love surrounds us
Not sometimes
But always

When all is said
and nothing’s done
and all the air is
sucked out of the room,
open the door
and take a walk.
Let the sun caress
your shoulders.
Let the breeze
ruffle your hair.
The world is bigger
than that room.
