falls apart.
End of the old.
Start of the new.

Gray dandelion
falls apart.
End of the old.
Start of the new.

It’s much easier
to criticize others than
to correct ourselves.

The visiting cat
gets a mixed welcome.
Our cats hiss.
Knox sighs and sniffs,
lets the visitor rub his leg,
resumes his rest.
He’ll need his energy
for chasing squirrels,
a pleasure the cats
simply miss.

Out my way the trains
don’t whistle; they loudly blare
goodbye to the moon,
hello to the sun.
On windy days the trees wave back.
JDG
Yellow butterfly
mingles with purple blossoms,
captures heart and eye.
JDG
Knox has so much fun
chasing squirrels, but I bet he’d
be stunned if he caught one.
JDG
Amidst all the green,
a patch of bright red, fallen
leaves – it’s June. I scan
the trees for a clue to help
solve this natural mystery.
JDG
I smile as
I listen to the laughter
in the living room.
The grandkids bring
it with them when they come.
JDG
This Sunday instead
of listening to sermons
or breaking news, I
listened to birds singing to
each other – a wordless peace.
JDG
Early morning sun
brings a sparkle to the day
as Knox, patrolling
for squirrels, spots a large rabbit
and runs to investigate.
