Love, tucked deep inside,

Let’s extend a hand.

is looking for a way out.
Let’s extend a hand.

I lay down to think.
Murphy plops down beside me.
Perhaps she’s uncertain
what I’d come up with
if left to ponder alone.

These housemates of mine
don’t need words. Their eyes, their barks,
their yips and meows, their purrs
and hisses, their moans and nudges,
their sighs and snuggles

They listen to my words, but
they’re not really needed.
They get me completely without them.

Ready to create a fuss,
I spot a hummingbird
and decide to look for
some sweetness instead.
