The Long Goodbye

The blue blooms linger,

inviting the yellow blooms

to linger too, to join in

this late summer offering

before the days grow cold

and they too must depart.

    I heard a podcast interview with a botanist and she said that purple flowers growing among yellow flowers are not just pleasant to the eye but attract bees as well to help with pollination. I thought that was interesting. Your poem reminded me of how much I have always loved that color combination. 🙂
