or hold leadership positions
took periodic, experiential,
continuing education units
in compassion and understanding?

A crucial question, Joan! I recently attended a graduation for students in a program from union construction and building trade jobs. Student speakers mentioned the power of the course they took on “emotional intelligence.” They said it helped them learn how to deal with people and their own emotions more effectively. It occurred to me that the faculty colleagues I worked with would benefit from such a class. Politicians and would-be leaders might benefit as well.
