So Many Changes

So many changes

in such a short time …

but wind still whistles

among the trees

and sunlight still shimmers

 across the pond.

Jays and squirrels

still seek dominion

and mourning doves

still gently coo.

Irises bloom and daffodils fade

and I? I watch it all,

 inside and out,

and slowly gain

 a richer understanding.
