Always open, the pond’s surface

 receives wind, sun, moon,

flying birds, landed birds,

rain, insects, and even snakes.

When those visitors move on,

the pond gently rests beneath

an open sky. Water and air,

pond and sky –

twin manifestations of

non-preferential receptivity.
