Poetry As Prayer

Trapped in an edgy wilderness of discontent,

separated from rescue,

 not by choice,

but by an inexplicable closing

 of the heart,

I write.

I write because

it is something I know to do.

It is something I can do

while waiting for

an inexplicable opening of the heart

which can’t be forced,

but will be welcomed

with gratitude when it comes.
