On this calm day with little breeze,
some leaves let go
and float, twirling
to the waiting
ground. I wonder how they know just
when to leave one
home and journey
to another?
Some rest awhile in the outstretched
arms of nearby
evergreens,
then travel on.

Lovely, and I could actually see the title working both ways- leaf- taking, leaves-taking, but because you wrote leave-taking…I could see it as taking-leave… when will they take-leave, when will the leaves take leave and when will I take leave…

Joan – Beautiful description of the simple and the complicated journey of a leaf. How do they know “when to leave one home” for another? A great question I now, also, wonder about!
