An Unexpected Find

In the early morning hurry,

trying to get

the kids to school,

I came to a

sudden stop behind cars all in

a hurry too.

In that long pause

I looked around

and saw the autumn trees – russet,

  fading green and

brown – and found, in

that moment, gold.
