Two stories, much in the news of
late, tell of kids
going full out
to run a race.
One boy with cerebral palsy,
given a chance
to sit things out,
chose instead to
give his all. Following him,
his classmates cheered
and when he crossed
the finish line,
they were there to give high fives.
A high school girl,
having won one
race and running
another, saw a fellow runner fall
and helped her up
and across the
line before she crossed herself –
spontaneous
acts of kids fit
to lead us all.

Wonderful way to capture both moments, Joan. And, love, love love the title you came up with!
