Tonight driving west for home, led
by a shining
sliver of moon,
bowl-shaped, holding
its own darkness in a darkened
sky, I was led
to something more,
a far sighting
of a possible world where each
of us cradled
our own darkness
and lit the night.

Joan- I somehow missed this the first time around. This morning I read ‘A Far Sighting’ with eyes turned toward the need, in these volatile times to indeed ‘cradle our own darkness’, for truly its high time to really let our own light shine–there are individuals and countries and belief systems that need that light. In my own humble opinion, the light of self determination and personal responsibility as much as any. At the risk of profound over simplification, if we don’t start listening to one another with open hearts and if we don’t continue to respond to one another with kind & thoughtful action, we are all in big trouble. I’m as positive a person as I know, and honestly, we just have to start taking care of one another better if we are going to go forward. And I do believe that begins with taking care of our own selves, addressing the darkness in our own psyches, so that indeed, we may begin to light the night. You continue to be an inspiration, a positive mentor to me. Thank You, Shelley
