She said she wanted
to give her grievances a rest,
but those who know her best
think that will only happen
when she herself is laid to rest.

When we ignore
the body’s speed limit signs,
it’s likely we’ll crash and burn.
JDG
Out beyond the clouds
the sun is hiding even
though I asked it not to.
JDG
Though she was only
with us for a day, when her
wings dried, she was soon
off, ready to do the things
luna moths such as she do.

After the sudden rain
this magical creature
appeared at our door.
Whether it bore a message
or was a message,
I don’t know, but its silent
beauty spoke to my soul.
JDG
I could see through
the sliding glass door, but
there was much I could not hear:
birds singing, trains whistling,
dogs barking, gravel crunching,
woodpeckers pecking, children playing.
With one quick pull, I added
another dimension, but that was not
enough for Knox, who pulled me
out the door for a full-bodied experience,
one that included tossing sticks.
JDG
Slight breezes caress
the trees this almost sunless
Sunday afternoon,
giving Knox and I a chance
to seize the moment and walk.
JDG
Though poor, he had
a richness of character
his wealthy foe lacked.
JDG
Judging from the way
all the bird seed disappeared,
I’d say both the birds
and those hungry squirrels found
it good to the last kernel.
JDG
Nothing is certain.
Tomorrow may not come, but
we are here today.
Don’t wait to sing your own song.
Sing it with passion today.
